I purchased the x start off Amazon thinking that the “plug and play” description would be in line with my abilities. I’ve done a couple speaker or stereo swaps (ds18 tweeter swap, jeep commander stereo and speakers) so thought I’d give it a go.
Was most of the way there until I came across the splicing in portion. Supposed to splice into the TPMS wire for some sort of trickery with the receiver I guess. Found out the hard way there’s less than enough free wire to do so.

    Where I’m at now:
    - Remote starter worked briefly, now does not.
    - Tire pressure light is always on cause the splicing didn’t happen.
    - Headlights/Cabin lights don’t turn off or on when I enter or exit the vehicle due to what I believe is some wiring folly’s with the door ajar sensor (door ajar alert not responding). May have unplugged something or damaged something when doing all this panel removing.

Can someone tell me if I’m completely screwed or if I can fix this one step at a time. (If you’d outline those steps that’d be great as well).

The good news is; you know exactly where the molestation happened, so get back in there, inspect and repair.

Also, many suggest disconnecting the battery before working on electrical systems. I would take the extra precaution since you think you may have botched the wiring. Better safe than sorry.

Toyota’s are a little tricky. I needed some pigtails that were not included in my starter kit. Complicating it further was the Maestro & alarm install at the same time. Took better part of a day to install but worth it.

My old brain isn't understanding. Why can't you just lengthen the wire ?

I just installed the start-x remote start in my 2016 in half an hour and it was plug and play. Nothing to do with TPMS !!??

You should post the link to what you ordered. Usually, plug-and-play means no wire splicing lol.

if you've got an SR5, that's an automatic. Are you sure you needed to cut the TPMS wire? If I remember correctly when I did my N2 install (7 years ago), cutting that wire was just for the manual transmissions.

Could be wrong about it, but worth double checking which set of instructions you used.

I think the TPMS wire cut is push to start vs key. Key = cut; PTS = no cut.

ok there you go - and all the manuals are keyed, which is why I had to do it.

    Are the SR5s push-to-start?

@N2DesignsInc may have some input - I bought for a 2020 early on in the 2020 roll out, and they had a splice in theirs then. The N2 kit no longer splices wires, but I was in that window where they were splicing.

If I remember correctly (this was 5ish years ago now) the kit I bought from N2 had something like this for the splice:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/WAGO-27..._rYHJbkR8PqS4RIF1SqVWyd79P8_xStTNMWndpU&gQT=1

It worked right after install, and hasn't skipped a beat since.

here’s the links to both the starter and the video that the directions had a QR code link to. For additional context I do have the manual key in my 21 not the push to start. I believe the SR5s switched to push to start in 22, or maybe a mid production change not sure.

Called a place today to see how much it’d be to get one installed and to remove the other one, quoted me at $350. Wondering if they’d be able to fix whatever else is going on as well or not.

Michigan winters and I don’t have a garage. Definitely a nice to have not a need to have. I figure I’m already here, should at least get the original goal accomplished.

I start mine from 30+ stories up. Kinda have to aim the fob but hasn’t let me down yet even in Fog.
