Recently started hearing a ‘clicking’ noise coming from the driver side of the dashboard during braking. Research shows it might be brake inhibit relay. Anyone have any experience with this component or issues?

Ah, what is a “brake inhibit relay”?

The Combination Meter does have some of the Brake functions within.

There is also the Body Control ECM near your left knee.

Maybe BIR is not the correct name for the component I'm referring to. But I'm hearing, intermittently, a relay clicking whenever I'm braking and coming to a stop. A sound that I wasn't hearing until a couple weeks ago.

To my knowledge, there are only four relays that are accessible on the driver's side. The rest are soldered within the Fuse/junction box. I noticed none within the Body ECM; all solid state fully electronics in there.
If you have the power sliding rear window there is a big relay just below the Combo Meter, the other three are up against the left side of the fuse box. I know of none on the combo meter itself.

Intermittents are always fun to find.

Does the noise sound like a relay cycling both on and off or in one direction only?
Do you get one click when pressing the brake and then another once fully stopped?

Just a single click. Not like an on - off sound. I usually hear it just as the vehicle comes to a dead stop.

Do you have any modifications to the front suspension? Have you checked for play in any of the driver's side components? Does it make noise stopping in reverse?

Totally stock including tire size. I wouldn’t even know where to begin to check for loose components. It’s not a sound that something loose or moving would make. As best as I can recollect the click sound only occurs while moving forward.

Well, when it becomes a full time thing, ie not an intermittent, have someone take a look at it.
