I thought all that would be worked out in the current agreement. I haven't been paying attention, looks like the agreement is up for negotiations. Manufacture are heavily invested in Mexico, tarrifs on imported vehicles from Mexico wouldn't make sense. Vehicles already in the US and currently allocated shouldn't be effected by any retroactive changes to the agreement.

This is how Toyota does it differently than Ford, etc.

Go to the Ford website, and you can build an a la carte vehicle. I want X body, Y engine, etc etc.

Toyota says "We are building 100 vehicles with option A B C, 200 vehicles with option A B D, and so forth". Those options are planned out and production dates are planned. When you go into their build site, there are options you can and can't have. Like A B C, A B D, BUT you can't have A B E, because Toyota isn't making those.

So you build option A B D, and get a date, woohoo! That build date was set in 2023, not when you put it through, you just picked option A B E and the date that you're getting is the date they already had. It might be in the future, it might already be somewhere, but they sure as heck aren't building it "for" you. Toyota builds what they build, and we get to pick from those options.

I don't know who else does it that way, and who does the actual ability to custom build (IE Ford).

Anyway, I'm really digging all the DOT orange options nowadays. As the owner of a DOT white, I'd flip to DOT orange :p
