    Hi guys!

I’ve got 460,000 km on my Tacoma. Yesterday it stalled and wouldn’t restart. It cranks over but no go. I don’t hear the fuel pump at the filler cap when the ignition is turned on. I want to check the fuel pump electrical system and trouble shoot it before I drop the tank and replace the pump. I’ve checked the coils on the fuel pump relay and c/Opn and they appear to be good.
Anybody have a schematic or idea where to start? Any help would be super appreciated as my wife hit a deer in her 4 runner a couple weeks ago and now we are without wheels.

The pump doesn't run at key on like many other manufacturers, it only runs during engine cranking and after the engine has started.

The closest place to the pump you can check for power is at Connector IB1 Pin 8 (Black/Red) behind the left kick panel, should have power there while cranking. Also check it for a burnt pin which is also relatively common.

Thanks a ton! I’ll check that out. I appreciate the schematics too.

Ok I checked at the pin and got 10 .8 volts?
Ground test was 12.5V from the lighter
I hear a whine at the throttle body after cranking.

I’m going to borrow a neighbour’s scanner. The 10.8 volts has me stumped. Is it a voltage drop going to PIN number 8?( Curiously I noticed 10.8 volts when testing my trailer tail light on the driver side at the connector. )
This is the first time this truck has ever not run. I did replace an alternator and wiring harness when the voltage regulator on the alternator went and was providing an over voltage. Ended up replacing the battery too because it vented. Was very worried about corrosion. That was 2 years ago. I’ve been cruising through the threads on the forum and I super appreciate all the information you have posted. You must have spent hundreds of hours on here. I’m an electrician/ industrial mechanic and really believe in diagnose, fix or repair before replacing. So your stuff is like finding gold.
