    Hi all,

I just finished an engine rebuild on my 4Runner 5vzfe engine. Unfortunately I am hearing a ticking noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. Worried it’s a rod knock. I got 325 and 330 knock sensor codes after driving around for a little. There is no noise on cold startup, and the noise slowly increases as the engine warms, turning into quite a loud ticking/knocking noise when the engine is hot. The noise seems to dampen and go away as I increase rpm. Pulling spark plug boots I found that removing cylinder 4 boot made the ticking noise go away. Using a stethoscope I was unable to isolate if the noise was louder at the top of the engine or the bottom. It seems similar volume at both top and bottom though maybe slightly louder if I put my head right below the oil pan.. if anyone has experience with this issue I would really appreciate if you guys think this is definitely a rod knock, or if it could be something like valve clearance, piston slap, an exhaust manifold leak, or even something with my injectors. Here is a link to a video of the noise if it helps:
