Crazy question, why do so many people put fire extinguisher's in the Tacoma's??

I can see with an older vehicle with some janky wiring, or a crappy carburetor or something, but I have been driving for almost 40 years and have never had a fire extinguisher in any vehicle, not even my fun car...

Is it just a better to have and not need it, then to need it and not have it thing, or is it like the mall cruiser with a 6" lift and 37's on it type thing??
I mean, how many Tacoma's are catching on fire everyday??

Or maybe cause so many here are DIYer's and or doing all the add on electrical stuff and don't either trust your own work or buying cheap electrical stuff that might decided to give a warm glow without much notice (or as we say, let the factory smoke out of it)??

Not busting anyone's chops here, just really curious about why...
Let the hate mail begin.... :crapstorm:

for me - I have a bunch of wiring for extra lights, on board air, upgraded radio/amp and sub, and adding a winch, etc. so for me it's an electrical fire peace of mind if just talking the truck - not that i dont trust my own wiring. Also, i go camping a lot with my truck, so good to have one on hand for all around camp safety stuff.

that said, i hear ya - never had to even think about using - knock knock - but rather be safe than sorry kinda thing.

I have two. One in the bed and one in the cab.
I'd rather have it and not use it, then need it and not have it.

Good speakers and an amp alone will change the way you rock inside your truck. 100%.

Same reason to keep a medical bag with tourniquet, Israeli bandages, blood-clotting gauze, splint, hydrocortizone, burn gel, etc. If something catches fire for *any* reason, my Tacoma or another vehicle, ... you can "cover your exit" or you can help people in another vehicle escape the flames. Bad things happen for a million different reasons, so plan ahead.

I had to stop 2 times this past summer to put out camp fires people left still very much smoldering, I'll keep one around just for that since people can't seem to leave a campsite properly.

I grabbed them, at each end separately, and didn't notice any freeplay that would translate into noise during operation. I was not able to grab either end and get any noticable play in the joints, it just felt well lubed and smooth. I wonder if the collar, up near the bushing, is causing any issues?

I would guess, if you are going offroad quite a bit, or running on dirty dusty roads, or driving on roads where they salt/brine the HELL out of them, and you feel that you're kicking up a lot of road debris that would land onto the top of your noodle, I'm just saying, I've heard of at least 1 member who found that such debris did cause, to his exclamation, the 'Rubbing off' of the paint around said noodle. If you think about it, its possible, yes? So, what I don't know, is, did said member take the time to spray between his cab and bed, in an effort to remove such heavy debris, from his, noodle from time to time? We may never know, right? So it is my humble opinion, that, knowing one has a noodle, between cab and truck bed, and spraying that noodle with fresh water from a hose at appropriate times like say after offroading, or after river fording, or after hitting a salt-filled pot-hole, or any other 'servere-service' condition, then maybe one has a better chance of not 'rubbing off' the paint near noodle between one's cab and bed. :notsure: Just seems logical to me. So give it a go, and inspect/spray your noodle from time to time if you feel like the sound deadening is enjoyable to you.

Is having lifts and bigger tires connected to this supposed offensive road noise? Mine isn’t that bad I need to get all skitzo and jam foam between the cab and bed (I’m joking of course don’t get triggered). Or is it just those with caps? What am I missing ie not reading about this? One thing I have noticed is back seats down with the dog in back it’s slightly more noticeable than when they’re up but nothing too annoying. Maybe cuz I’m a heavy equipment operator I’m just deaf to those sounds anyways

Honestly I found that the window deflectors did more to quiet my truck down than anything else so far. That being said I haven’t insulated the back wall and I do have a soft top that is up nearly 100% of the time.

It was suggested to me when I got a R4T high clearance exhaust. I switched to the Magnaflow Overland exhaust instead.

I would think not. I would think that a MT tire would contribute more to road noise than a lift or bigger tires alone. Unless, you are assuming, that bigger tires ALSO means agressive MT treads, in this case, then YES bigger tires would contribute to the noise that you cannot hear anyways since you are a heavy equipment operator. :boink: (I'm not triggered. Just helping a brother understand...)

I've had a pool noddle installed for about 3 years now. It does reduce road noise and when my lab has his head stuck out the back window when we travel for camping I have noticed a drop in the noise as well.

Got my Genuine Toyota 17" TRD Gloss Gunmetal Gray (TRD PRO 4Runner) PTR20-35110-G4 wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler G3 tires mounted and installed today. I am exceedingly happy with the result! Love the look and these new Nitto G3's are great tires! So glad I was patient and waited for these, very happy indeed!
