2021 Trd sport question on BSM

Is there a setting where you can actually hear the BSM warning or is it just the flashing signals on the side mirrors? Been meaning to ask this for awhile as I’ve noticed other vehicles have this feature where you can actually hear the warning when warranted.

 

I'm surprised you haven't been blasted for asking something that should be in the owner's manual. There are those on this forum that enjoy that practice.

That was my first impression upon reading your post, but then I thought you might be hard of hearing and unable to hear the alert tones that are emitted by a buzzer behind the left rear seat. That is where my buzzer sound comes from in my 2021 OR Access Cab. If you are hard of hearing, have someone sit back there and monitor for you to determine if it is working.

May I suggest you enter your vehicle information in the side panel so others you seek info from can accurately address your issues without asking for the simplest of clarifications.

 

BSM only has the visual alert in the mirrors. There is no audible alert for it.

The audible alert is the Cross Traffic Alert when in reverse, that is part of the system, alerting you of movement of objects or people behind and at your rear corners.

Also, the only setting is 'on/off'

 

Ah, so I didn't distinguish between the two.

 

Seems like a valid question to me because this morning, alone in my driveway, the BSM was flashing and a beep was going off. I've seen the BSM come on a few times when it spotted my trailer or a tree snuck up on the truck but it seldom makes a noise or flashes.

All this nanny stuff is new to me and even though I've read the manual a couple of times, it's hard to keep it all straight since I live way out in the sticks and it is seldom activated for a valid reason and I really don't need any help driving !!

 

My BSM only flashes and only beeps if it detects something if I'm backing out of a place also. I guess it would become pretty annoying if it beeped everytime some one passed you.
