I replaced my clutch a few weeks ago with LCE Pro clutch. Immediately there is a lot of stuttering on take off and reverse. LCE advised and need to be broken in. This weekend I decided to take it apart and immediately notice there's birding on the top of the flywheel and the clutch. Is this because the flywheel is warped or is it because I didn't align the clutch well?

Shuttering when slipping the clutch or clutch fully released. Imo I would have let it ride 5k to see if it would go away with break in. I would check the flywheel and pressure plate for flatness and put it all back together. Just like brakes it can take a while to bed into the flywheel and looks like it hasn't yet.

Nearly 20k miles on my new clutch and it hasn't fully bedded yet :notsure:
Slight noticeable stuttering now and then
Coined out for a new OEM flywheel, that was a pricey SOB

The only part not sourced thru the yota dealer was the clutch pressure plate
That was an aisin from the rockAuto and I'll be cotdamed if they sent me junk

I'm glad I redid it. The shuddering was bad and aggressive. After the redo it's smooth now and it still has some of the shuddering but not nearly as aggressive.

    You think it was alignment?
Do you feel like it suits your set-up well (weight/overland)? I've replaced mine before, but I think on the next round I need to look into this or the Exedy stage 1 for more clamping force.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
The Exedy Stage 1 has been awesome in my truck and has held 405hp and 482lb of torque at the wheels, it's way underrated.

It was definitely alignment issue. I found someone on Facebook that gave me a tip about making sure the alignment tool slides in and out really well before you finish it which I didn't do a good job with the first time. I like the way it feels now and it definitely seems to improved to take off with all the weight I have. I have not taken it off-roading yet but I can let you know how that goes when I do in January. I too think the one or two stage clutch might be what I would do next time but right now I'm really happy with the 38 lb fly wheel and LCE Pro clutch.

    Good info...
I've heard good things about the excedy and this one.
I definitely need the improved take off with all the weight. I feel like starting on a moderate up hill is rough.
