newbie question. I'm doing all of the ball joints and tie rods so thought I would replace the front shocks. Do I need to be careful buying 5100's? are there different configurations or anything or do I just select front 5100s? I think I would reuse the existing coils. I see B8's that say they are ride adjustable,
I see Bilstein Shock - 5100 Series Front,
Bilstein (33-185569) 5100 Series Front Shock Absorber
Bilstein (24-186735) 5100 Series Front Shock Absorber, Black
Bilstein (24-186643) 5100 Series Shock Absorber
    Bilstein 33-187501 5100 Series Shock

all come in at different prices

    etc....

I think I would do a minimal lift, mostly a city truck with occasional backcountry camping, nothing intense.

just want to make sure im getting the right ones if there are different variants of 5100

front is 34.5 inches from ground to bottom of wheel well fender and back is 37.5 inches, so I'd be happy with a 1 inch lift in the front, dont want to compromise ride too much. i have 4 leafs in the back, not sure if that is stock, just bought the truck.

If you can find a set of 3rd Gen offroads springs and shocks, that will give you about an inch, 1 1/4 or so

    Nice black truck too!!

I second third gen takeoffs, just make sure they’re new or relatively new, none of those 15,000 miles take offs, there are too many 100 or so mile options and for the same price to go otherwise. Check the buy/sell thread.
Sports are more firm and off roads more supple. Pending on what you prefer. I went 3rd gen sport cause I don’t off-road much, and prefer a tighter drive, and don’t forget the 1/4 spacer driver side to adjust for taco lean.
