So I am looking at replacing the HU in my 3rd Gen and I have read as many threads as I could dig up but come up short.

What I am looking for is an install kit that allows installation of a double din HU in the factory spot that covers the area NOT covered by the HU itself.

The reason for this is I have an Eonon UA12S-Plus in my WRX that I absolutely love and would like to install one in my truck. The cool thing about this unit, is it has a tilt/swivel screen, so you can aim it (somewhat) at the driver side. Better yet, the newest upgraded version which is the UA13SK-Plus has a physical volume knob which is freaking awesome for me personally.

The actual body of the unit is double din, so I would need a fascia kit of some kind to trim it out and avoid gaps around the edges of the HU body itself.

Do any trim/install kits exist for double din sized HU's out there? Is the SR HU an actual double din size so perhaps all I would need to make this work is an SR bezel/fascia + the brackets for a stock HU from an SR?

    Thanks.

The kits you will find include a trim piece that goes around a double DIN unit

Thanks Destin. I'm not really looking to buy a complete "kit" which includes the head unit. I am trying to use a head unit that I am familiar with and actually really like, so I guess the question I should have asked is: Is the stock Entune HU (screen and all) larger than standard double DIN ?

The bod of the unit I want to use is double DIN. The screen is larger and on a swivel mount that sits proud of the trim/fascia, so I don't want to see any gaps between the facia and head unit bod when it is installed. Hopefully that makes sense??

I am referring to just a mounting kit. For example, I’m using the metra 99-8251B. It will include mounting brackets and the trim piece

the answer is 'yes'. the oem radio's screen is larger than the 2-din opening the 'guts' fit into behind it.

that's best understood looking at used radio listings like this one on ebay.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/235776080957

you will need an aftermarket radio installation kit for the brackets to adapt the aftermarket guts to the factory radio opening no matter what. that said, i don't believe anyone else here has ran a radio similar to that, so aren't going to be able to speak to it's size and how it covers the factory radio opening. iirc, the wrx has a more typical 2-din opening, where if you check the pictures of the example factory unit in that above ebay listing, the oem screen has an unequal-side-rectangle with a nearly 3-din-tall, and 1.75-din-wide opening.

so you may need still need to use the dash bezel kit for the radio to account for covering up the rest of the area, despite getting the larger screen that covers the majority of it, but won't cover all of it because of the oddball dimensioning they did.

just be sure to check the different players in dash adapters. there's at least 4 variations, and they all place use the 2-din opening differently within the space, as well as each has a different intentional finish texture that can add or subtract from your desired final install.
