Are they the GM 15s or whatever we were talking about? I haven't seen one specifically but they're pretty easy to figure out. I've been toying the idea of grabbing one myself.

My painting/priming setup. I’m just going to clean them, hit them with self etching primer and paint them later.

Should be lol. Haven't opened it fully to actually check the model. It's not labeled on the box either lol

They're not so bad to use if you preprogram them with a channel list. Manually dialing freqs/modes is slow and picky.

    Chirp (programming/management software) is free - https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home

All the Baofengs are substantially similar as long as you aren't talking about firmware modifications or "secret features", so any general "How to Baofeng" tutorials will do.

Better setup than I have. I will have to sand and paint one at a time. Tested out my wire wheel and primer on a small area this morning.PXL_20241226_170707492.jpg

Mine are used so they need a good sanding. I am using Rust-Oleum rusty metal primer then I will use Rust-Oleum flat black paint. I am thinking 3-4 coats.

Those are GMRS radios, not the UV5R. Shouldn't need any programming. Turn them on and dial in a channel 1-22.

You MIGHT need some programming with repeaters on 15(?)-22 but if you're just using it to talk to trucks around you (called simplex, just one radio talking to another) then you should be good to go out of the box. I hope. That's the selling point of GMRS and FRS.

You might want to grab some rustoleum bedliner, they get slick even with the bedliner. Mine are self etching primer 2 to 3 coats, 3 coats of bedliner, and 2 to 3 coats of flat black enamel. All rustoleum. Makes for super easy touch up

I changed the blower motor and cabin filter today. $86 for both at Advance Auto with the 20% deal. Pretty simple install other than not having any 5.5 mm sockets or nut drivers out of all the tools I have. Who the hell uses 5.5? I had to go get a socket at Home Depot. Another interesting thing is the stock motor I took out was made in China and the new Carquest one is made in Canada. o_O

I don't remember the size of the bolt, but IIRC, it had a Philips (or maybe a JIS). Of course there is no SAE equivalent to 5.5mm. Now I have to buy that I'll never use to complete the set!

They are really just a screw with a 5.5mm hex head. They screw into plastic. It’s pretty strange. A Phillips head screw would have been perfectly fine.

I got one clean, sprayed primer on half of it then sales asked if I could do something. It was after 5 and I was punched out.

Tomorrow I'll primer the other half and on Saturday do the other slider

I was on foot. Saw a few Jeeps on the sand. According to the sign the area was closed to vehicle traffic since November 15.
