    Hello,

I have a 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road long bed and a Alu-Cab Contour Canopy long bed. I also have the Toyota OEM power tailgate long bed harness installed.

Looking to see if you have a T harness to let me keep my canopy relatively plug and play for the purposes of:

    1. Tie in the 3rd brake light. Just by itself i see that product here: https://fbchs.square.site/product/tacoma-2016-2023-brake-t-harness/47

    2. Tie in the factory bed lights into the canopy lights.

    3. Tie in power locks from either tailgate or where the OEM tailgate power lock harness ties inside the cab on the passenger door sill. The Alu-Cab canopy does not come stock with power locks, but I found an aftermarket option here (I would like to have power locks on the OEM Toyota FOB to keep the feature of the keyless door handle gesture unlock): https://www.canopylocks.com.au/alu-cab.html

I am wondering if this is already a product listed on your vendor's site or if a custom order is possible. I am also wondering if the factory harnesses (both the bed light and power lock) can handle the additional load of the 3 canopy LED lights and an additional 2-6 power locks (2 for the rear window and possibly 6 total to have all canopy doors on the OEM power locks).

Let me know if this is available or not possible.

    Thanks,
    The Monarch

    Thank you, this is helpful.

What is "5. Power from taillight fuse box (sold separately) at 42" to flange" for on the TAG Harness? To run an additional auxiliary fuse panel (in addition to the fuse panel mentioned in the item description that mounts to the taillight cavity? besides the TAG fuse panel (for brakes, bed lights, and locks)? Is there a relay used in this harness that requires the power from the taillight fuse box? If I look at all 3 pieces individually without the flange connector, I do not see power being required or a relay being mentioned unless if a high amp draw is anticiapted.

    Brake Harness:

    Tailgate Harness:

    Bed Light Harness:
    https://fbchs.square.site/product/t...rue&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=12

Not sure I understand why that portion is necessary besides grounding from the flange for the 3 functions unless one or all of these functions are setup on a relay.

I see your write up for the last step somewhat explaining this, but I am not sure why this wire (#6 on diagram? / "5." on Description) is there in the first place:

Aux power is part of the TAG setup. So I include it as the 6th wire, pinned from the fuse block and intended to use the 3D printed fuse block case that is made by TW user @switch

On my own truck I still have to run power for this. I use it currently as a ground distribution only.

So I have power pinned from it to flange to TAG but no power in from the battery and not using it off the fuse box yet. Presumably I might one day do that and feed my shell dome tube light with it, having constant power since that tube has a switch. Then use my Matt gecko kit for the unswitched dome fed from my switch pros triggered by cab dome.

no relay is needed for this, a relay would be used if you have a switch driving a high current device. Here we are merely trying to provide fused battery to the shell.

another use might be usb charging or 12v power socket or possibly ignition switched power (then you use a relay) to feed something like a shell mounted camera. Your options on sourcing power in and consuming that power are specific to your needs.

it’s mostly because the tag has 6 wires in and the flange too so I include it per the TAG spec.

Note that Deutsch max amp rating is 15 so this isn’t ideal for a defroster circuit if you were so inclined. @Puppypunter has defrost on his shell rear window. I don’t yet though he sent me a kit, it’s in a bin on a shelf.

Perhaps by relay you were wondering if my harness requires this fused battery lead and uses relays for brake and dome triggers to send it to the shell? If so, no, my harness does not do that, though a fancier version could. Brake goes directly to the fuse box and then feeds the brake light and the bed light circuit as well. Lock and unlock are both fed directly as well and not fused. The TAG has 3 fuses, brake, dome, aux. the aux circuit is just an extra one for whatever you might want it for, most likely a manually switched light in addition to the auto switched dome one, useful for camping maybe or specific situations.

Thank you for the information. I do not foresee the need for an auxiliary fuse box tied into the starter battery to power anything in the canopy/topper at this time. Ultimately I am looking at going the DIY route with the assistance of each individual T harness that I listed above with either a single 5-pin automotive connector (sharing a common ground for taillight and dome light) or 3 2-pin connectors and fishing the harness(es) between the canopy and the bed or fishing the wires through the storage cubbies in the bed or bolt-holes of the cubbie(s):

    Bed Light Harness:

I believe I need to order the brake harness without the parking light split since the taillight running lights are illuminated when the parking light mode on the steering wheel stalk is selected. If I understand correctly, the parking light option for the FBC T harness is only if my topper/canopy has additional lights that I would like to be illuminated when the parking light option is selected on the stalk other than the 3rd brake light?

I would consider a similar package to the TAG Harness without the TAG Fuse Box connector (which I could just cut off the harness that FBCHS sells), auxiliary power wire (which I could just not use this wire), and a 90 degree deutsch connector (which I could replace myself). I think 90 degree, if available on the market, would keep me from accidently knocking into or breaking/unplugging a straight connector. Also would keep it slimmer profile. I might be over thinking however.

Not sure if I intend to wire in the T-harness(es) from the passenger side, driver side, or both (if not bundled like the tag harness).

I also noticed on your storefront I am not able to place an order and am given "Our store is not currently accepting orders." as a message after attempting to order. Let me know when these are available for purchase or if this issue is related to my specific transaction attempt.

Still thinking some options over. Let me know if you have any input/recommendations or need clarification.

Sorry to bum you out but I’ve closed the store. Perhaps ironically, interactions such as this one were truly the most cherished part for me. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Hopefully you have enough of a guide to piece things together for yourself.

Thank you for your responses. They are helpful in planning out how my DIY 3 T harness will be planned.

I found a vendor, WireCare, that I can use to recreate portions of the FBC TAG Harness. I am not sure where I can find the male/female connectors for the bed light (thinking about DIY'ing a T harness and chop factory wire to make a quick 2-pin disconnect?), taillight (chop a VLEDS third brake light harness? - would like to keep taillight plug and play without chopping factory harness), and tailgate lock (chop a pop&lock t harness? - would also like to keep lock t harness plug and play without chopping factory harness) at the time of this posting, but am still researching. Let me know if you have a source for the receptacles and plugs for these 3 harnesses you used to assemble. It would be very appreciated.
