New thread. Is there anything I need to watch out for on replacing the A750f transmission? Like anyone have info on what way the torque converter goes in? Just dropped my bad one, just getting ready to put the new one in.

Transfer the dowel pins, they are critical. There are 2 and sometimes they dont come with units.

    Check breathers now.

The converter should clunk into place, you should not be able to get your fingers in behind the converter. Ideally you measure the depth of the original unit by using a pry bar across the bell housing and a measuring tape.

What are the breathers? I’ve never swapped an auto so just kinda guessing on everything. Got the dowel pins though thanks on that, and putting in a new pan gasket on the new one while it’s not in. I know there’s a certain way the converter goes on ( probably find a video on that somewhere) and should I put it in the trans or on the flywheel when I slide on the trans?

Converter on to trans first. Watch youtube videos of it.

You support the converter with one hand on the center dimple while spinning it onto the trans, you want it to slide fully in and it should make a satisfying thud when done right.

I also forgot to undo the bolts for the torque converter to flywheel and am having a problem with having to long or to short extensions, sockets, rathets, etc;. Is putting a socket through the starter hole the only way to take them off or should I just re-use my old converter?- thanks for the help.

You cannot leave it on the engine, it will damage the pump and seal if you try to reinstall it as such.

I believe you go through the starter hole yes.

No. Don't reuse the torque converter. And flush the transmission cooler and lines.

Set fluid level and reset adaptive, you'll need a scan tool that can perform advanced functions.

People say disconnect battery for 5 min does that even do anything? But you’re saying just use a obd scanner with advanced functions and reset it on there?

Should I level the fluid first and drive it at all, or just set fluid and reset?

@Bishop84 I am trying to set the temp to level my fluid, but after doing the procedure the a/t light keeps slowly flashing and I know for a fact it isn’t over temp. It’s all the way cold, I placed the jumper in the obd port d-n six times or whatever and the light flashes a couple times, but after putting it in park it keeps flashing.

Coded the check engine light and it’s throwing every code possible for my transmission.
