    I’ll keep this post brief, because I’m very tired. This truck had been sitting on a dealer’s lot for months. The dealer said it hadn’t sold because “no one knows how to drive it.” It was worth it for me to fly to Alabama, sign the deal and drive it home to central TX. I’ve had 875 miles to get used to the truck and I’m very pleased. I know I’ve had my mind set on an Off-Road, but good lord this truck is more than capable. As has been discussed and proven, the SR 6MT has the same HP and torque as the Sport and OR 6MT, and almost exactly the same payload and towing capacity. Comparing this to my previous 2016 SR auto, it’s night and day. My only complaint so far is the stereo and CarPlay bugs. Yikes. But everyone of us is suffering through that together, now aren’t we?

    Congrats!

    I feel like they should have released an update for the infotainment system AA/Carplay bugs, but alas nope. You'll quickly get used to manually turning the darn thing on as it fails to auto connect 50% of the time I've noticed :annoyed:

    Me too. I have dark interior in mine too. I had '17 SR5 but it had light grey interior, though. I swapped for TRD with dark interior. My dealer had only one dark interior left. Whew!

    Nope! He was super helpful though. He picked me up from the airport and drove me 45 minutes to the dealership. He was very meticulous to ensure the deal went as smoothly as possible.

    I'm just guessing, but considering that it's the exact same engine as all other Tacomas, I think the difference in power output will be fixable by a tune you can flash.

    I won’t need to. This one is the same as the Sport and OR 6MTs

    Geez, that sucks! I’d expect more from a new vehicle. Hopefully they will release an update that fixes it soon.

    OP…Nice truck! I think this is the first manual 4th gen I’ve seen anyone post about.

    This topic has been cleared up. The clutch flywheel performs well off-road but doesn't handle the high turbo torque well, so Toyota did a MT-specific tune map to accommodate the flywheel limits. Only resulted in losing peak -8hp / -7 lbft.

    Flashing MT to AT map will result in NVH issues, for virtually zero power gain.

    That infotainment issue.. plus glovebox;

    Not sure this OP's truck, I heard from others who have glovebox issue that not closed tightly. It's loose, though:
