I recently found out I need a knock sensor, and upstream heated O2 sensor. I have a 2004 2.4 inline Toyota Tacoma Base automatic 2wd Base . I absolutely can not find anything regarding where the knocks sensor is. One place said nope they are not equipped. Next place says take the manifold off , next place says take fuel filter off. No where can I find a video or exploded diagram of where the knocks sensor is and or find the correct fit part that fits less that say 300 bucks for each part. And or the torque for each part. Please can someone help with any helpful information on all of this. Plus Is it common for both sensors to go out at the same time? Just a chick trying to fix her vehicle without getting screwed over .

The knock sensor on the four-cylinder trucks is right under the intake manifold towards the front. It only has a single connector going to it It's pretty easy to recognize

Thank you for replying. May I pick your brain . Any way to get to it , without removing the manifold? Is there any torque specs ? I can't find any legitimate information online. Except the damn thing is from $126 on up Taking it to a mechanic to charge me out the arse is just not feasible at this time

You can get to it with the manifold still on It's just kind of hard to reach. It takes a fairly large socket to remove once you've unplugged the connector on it. When I'm home later I can look up what size that is but you can remove it just with a regular socket wrench and probably an extension. It does have a torque spec but it's not overwhelmingly tight you just don't want to break it by accident. It screws into a blind hole on the side of the engine block it doesn't hold coolant or oil or anything

you can get to it a lot easier if you take the driver wheel off
