Remember how normal people shopped for vehicles before covid? Check 3+ dealers, see what they have on the lot, and buy from the one that gives you the best discount. Are all 3 dealers in your area promoting $2500 off MSRP? Is one willing to discount more?

Personally, I've always had luck running all the expected #s myself, and pushing toward a very specific OTD total $. It goes very quick. Once I know they won't budge further, if there's a delta and it's close enough, I use that delta to negotiate any add-on/accessories ... cause their margin is high on those so tossing in $1K extra stuff costs far less than taking $1K off the car.

As mentioned above, be willing to go to several dealers, and let them know you're ready to buy but shopping for the best overall deal.

How are you buying, cash deal, using their financing ? Get another $1k+ off using their financing. Then pre-pay every payment as much as you can applying the extra $$$ towards the principal. Works for me...
