I have a three-flash then steady TPMS symbol on as of a couple of weeks.
The sensors were never changed, original, yep, so there.

I live in MA and it is unclear if this bad sensor situation is an annual inspection FAIL?

Beside the inspection issue (due in a few months), what's going on with Toyota special (dealer) reset of the TPMS system, after new sensor install?

Oddly, we also have a 2008 base Odyssey, still on originals (minus the one that got damaged at tire change) and the TPMS wording come on and off with temp and humidity changes, currently stuck on, with inspection due in Feb.!

No. It is not part of the inspection checklist.

If you're still worried about it, adjust the pressure in all of the tires to spec, then perform the system re-set/re-program procedure as outlined in the owners manual before you take it in. (you can do it yourself: no dealer required)

Not sure about the inspection off my skull, but I have had sensors on my truck replaced at Town Fair Tire two separate times, and they didn't need a Toyota specific tool. The other 2 are still original, 15 yrs. So it's a cheap enough thing to go to an indie like TFT if you want it done without paying the dealer.

Though curiosity just made me look..per the MA vehicle check site it's not part of the test.

That said, don't be shocked if an inspector tries to say otherwise. I've had to fight twice in recent years about my truck for a seatbelt issue which wasn't an issue all these years.
