So I decided to get a large fries from Wendy's as a New Years Eve treat, I usually don't do fast food.

I ordered and pulled to the first window and had to wait while the person behind me placed an $84 order.


Almost wanted to hang around and see how many bags that equals...

 

People like that aggravate the stew out of me; like if you have that much stuff go inside!

Parked at Slowes, you don't see this every day.

JD compact tractor with loader & backhoe in a U-Haul tandem axle enclosed trailer - "fits a queen mattress" proudly emblazoned across the back doors.

 

Naturally I had to hear the story.

Some time ago the fellow placed an ad on CL "looking for a JD backhoe attachment, willing to take over payments, etc" - he had forgotten about it.

A lady contacted him having the entire tractor, 2022 model with 40 hours, her (poorly chosen apparently) life partner had walked and left her in financal distress it seems. She needed $8000 cash for the tractor to fix her problems.


The guy (buyer) happened to be from West Virginia and the JD was in NY, fortunately his sister & B-I-L are local and checked it out for him.
He went out to his truck with $8K in his pocket and discovered a tire had a big split so he rented a 4 door diesel super duty Ford for a week.

U-Haul apparently doesn't rent open trailers for one way trips so he got the enclosed.

Had to take off the loader bucket - put it in the truck bed, remove the ROPS and flatten the tires and crept into the trailer clearing by about a 1/8". They had to pick the heavier guy to drive just to get the 1/8".

Nice fellow, I'm glad he got a great deal.

Speaking of,
Pheels good to have my Christmas stuff torn down and up. Going into 2025 thankful, for the good and bad this year. Cheers to more time off with my family, more muscles and more money, in that order.

The track width of the tractor might be too narrow for the auto transport.

Around here they are next to impossible to get on short notice, I had to drive 45 miles to get one when the fuel pump went in Mrs Greens old car and had to return it.

When I bought the (first ) LTD I picked the trailer up on the way but had to return it 50 miles back there.

When I bought the second LTD I picked up the trailer on the way too - and wrote a check for it.

 

2 years old with 40 hours -- unreal deal. He said the backhoe attachment is about $8K alone.

 

Great way to end the year

 

Well manly men, oddly enough I'm awake at the moment...

Another year in the rear view mirror, the new one out in front of us like an unfamiliar road waiting to be explored.

Let's hit this new year with a positive attitude.
