08 Tacoma. First the right circular light went out- directional(floor, defrost etc). Then the center temp and the fan speed went out. Is this a simple fuse problem? How does that section come out if its a lighting problem. IMG_2613.jpg

Bulbs are likely out, if it were a fuse it'd be the whole panel and maybe the whole dash.

The problem is that is the incandescent bulbs are 17 years old (BTW - Happy New Year), and they are burning out. I replaced ALL of my instrument panel illumination with LEDs. You can buy 12V LEDs in almost any color. These are the ones that I used for the HVAC controls; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W8HKF3B
LEDs are polarity sensitive so if, after installing in the socket, the LEDs don't illuminate; pull the LED, rotate it 180º, and reinsert.

I don't remember the size for the of the dashboard & switches, but in order to replace all of the LEDs I think that I needed 3 different sizes (guessing T1, T2 & T3). I found that the illumination from the LEDs was directional, so I put a blob of clear hot melt glue on the top of the LED to allow them to provide more side illumination. This worked well for the dashboard switches.

Replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs and you will never have to worry about this again.
