Just saying hi and thanks to this community! I own a supercharged 2001 tacoma for a decade now and you guys have been a valuable resource for troubleshooting and repairs.

Also, just upgraded to a new 2024 Tacoma TRD offroad ... i just can't quit these things haha.

The supercharger on my 1st gen is a joy to drive. It adds plenty of low end torque instantaneously and improves the 0-60 BUT its very low boost. I don't have my tuned crazy so its only making 5psi which is plenty for me.

The turbo 4th gen is EVEN MORE of a joy to drive. It builds a lot of boost (15psi) and they have it tuned so there is barely any turbo lag. The 8 speed AT really makes the biggest difference IMO.

I will miss the instant boost the supercharger gives you but I'm getting used to the turbo lag. I'll also miss the lovely whine of the supercharger belt, but the whooshy turbo noise is nice too. Time will tell on what the new turbo does to reliability but it seems like they have designed the engine from the ground up to accommodate the turbo ... they aren't just slapping a turbo on a naturally aspirated engine. My supercharged 1st gen has 285K miles on it, so I've gotten plenty of reliability out of a boosted engine before .... I hope I will with my 4th gen as well
