    Hi Everyone,

I have been having issues with my 2006 Tacoma, it feels like its binding up going into park. You can't shift by hand into park with the shifter cable off, I also tried to adjust the neutral Safety Switch to see if that's my issue but just my luck it seems to be a problem inside the transmission. You can't feel any gears when you shift by hand under the truck.

I am on the hunt for a new to me transmission, I found a transmission but it came out of a 2005 Tundra. The Transmissions are both A750F but there are a few codes that are different and I am trying to get some insight whether this transmission could work or keep looking for the exact match?

The 2005 Tundra door placard says A/TM: A03B/A750F and on the side of the transmission it says 0C030.

The 2006 Tacoma door placard says A/TM: A04C/A750F and on the side of the transmission it says 04020.

If anyone could help give me some information on this I would really appreciate it, I am trying to either get this truck running or into better shape to sell it.

Thank you in advance to anyone who gives any information.

Are you certain it's not the range switch? Those tend to corrode and get tight especially in the rust belt.

No not confident about anything at this point, I attempted to make an adjustment, it looks clean like its been replaced recently. Regularly here they look like they've seen salt and grime for years but this looks new still. I just purchased the truck a month ago and have been trying to go through steps I've seen on here to try to diagnose. It only binds up going into park would I have to remove the switch to know for sure?

You would to at least rule out the switch, I'd certainly want to do that before replacing the transmission.

If it's simply a binding issue and the trans works well otherwise it may be worth taking it to a transmission shop and letting them drop the pan and valve body (or doing it yourself) to see if it's something internal that's easily fixed.

As far as the 1st gen Tundra transmission working in a Tacoma I'm not sure, while it is an A750 trans there are several variants of it and I'm not sure what interchanges
