We had a guy wanting us to make him some adapters to run semi wheels on a Dodge truck. When he got the price, he changed his mind.

New year, new boots! Why wait? I hunted in a pair of Keens this past year and was very happy with them. I'm thinking about getting a pair of Keens to work in as well. 8"/steel toe gets heavy, may go 6" carbon toes. Thoughts/comments/concerns?

I've always worn steel toe, haven't tried carbon.

I remember years ago I tried some Wolverines with some tip that wasn't metal, pretty sure it wasn't carbon either. I broke them in no time.

I had a pair of these turds years ago, composite toe and I kicked a massive hole(during regular work activities-no lie) in them like two hours after putting them on.

Timberland said kick rocks, I said ok see you again never!

Nope. Never again. Felt like I had air shocks & was always walking downhill. Likely never tested on humans either.

I bought a pair of Timberlands and few years ago. Wore them for 5 minutes and sent them back.

They're not steel toe but my current boots are Under Armor Valset. Incredibly comfortable.

White’s uninsulated smoke jumpers. Best boots I have ever bought. They have seen a lot of miles, landscaped a ton of property, and climbed a lot of trees in the in the close to 30 years I’ve owned them. I would have to take out a loan to buy a pair now but they would probably be the last pair of boots I would ever buy.

I wear these; I generally change insoles about mid year. They're light and comfy but you won't get 5-10 years out of them. We get a yearly boot allowance so I just grab a new pair every year.
    But light and comfy.

You like either of those? If you would look them up you might have a little sticker shock when you see the price. But I truly look at work footwear like you are investing in your future self. Like lieutenant Dan once said, " take care of your feet, Gump."

i've had some consistent problems with a few different keen shoes self-tightening their laces during use. and many of them always seem to run oddly heavier than other options, which isn't great for all-day use. but i'm also a 'tie the laces and slip them on' kind of guy, they seemed to have better results if i entirely un-did and re-laced them every morning. but i wanted shoes, not a new morning routine...

for 2 pairs, i had and absolutely LOVED the duluth trading company 'grindstone' shoes. the lightest, flexible, and most comfortable steel toe shoes i've ever had. and then they discontinued them... i'm still a little angry about it. if i could find another 10 pairs of them, i'd buy them immediately.

off a coworkers recommendation, i paid extra for some redback boots, specifically the 'easy escape hd' version. so far, i'm about 6 months in with them, and they're still wearing really well. most reviews say they last at least 2 years, jury's out yet. but they're at least comfortable to wear.

more specifically, that's a trailer tire. plenty of people with semi trailers that shop at menards. i know 4 truckers with at least 2 trailers each that spend just as much as i do there...

i suspect that menards got a deal for their trailer fleet, and just have too many.

note they have 108 available now. i'm curious how fast they'll go.
