Been dealing with a water issue on my access cab. I thought it was the third brake light. Replaced that and still have water leaking. WTF.

So I pull off the panel covering the wall and notice the cabin pressure vent and see water all around it. This is the

Am I right to assume I have to take the entire bed off to replace that gasket?

Looks like you don't really have to remove it completely. You can slide it back enough to get to the valve. Hopefully the bed bolts come out. Already had the rear ones out.

Still these gaskets pisd me off. Literally both the third brake light and the cpv at the same time. The gaskets are just foam. No wonder they just rot off.

I was gonna try and use some RTV sealant from the inside, but just can't see it sealing good.

Taking the bed off to get access to it and seal it is the only way I can see to make it seal properly.

One trick to save you some time, is to use a wedge on the top. A paint stick should work, to hold the top firm. It works perfect for me. Has kept water out for three rains now. So until I have time to pull the bed back that is what I have been doing.

As for my bed, I already checked all my bolts, they all came loose with a little elbow grease, Thank God!

I still can't believe more people haven't had this issue. Both my third brake light and cabin pressure gasket failed at exactly that same time. Such a stupid design on Toyota's part. Especially that cabin pressure value. Could have just bolted the thing on or a bunch of other designs.

Interesting. I've owned the truck for 14 years and didn't know there were vents back there.

Fairly common design amount truck makers. You will need to slide the bed backwards a few inches to remove the vents.

Did you find a fix for this? Just discovered this issue in my 2018. They are leaking a ton of water into the interior everytime it rains.
