Hey guys, long time lurker here, needs some advice. I have a 2nd gen 2015 Double Cab TRD Offroad v6 4x4 6-speed taco.

I ran into an issue while trying to drop the gas tank to replace the fuel pump. Everything went smooth aside from this one stubborn quick release style connector attaching the fuel filler neck skinny vent line to the tank. I was unable to disconnect it for a good hour trying different angles & every set of pliers i own and eventually I tried to tug on the line a little for extra leverage while holding in the blue tabs on the connector. But I snapped the line. Even then, I still couldn't get the connector off so i just broke it since the line was already ripped. In hindsight I would of been better off being patient and removing the bed to have better access to it but here I am.

Been digging around on the internet but it seems like toyota doesnt sell this specific fuel line it looks like its glued to the top of the gas tank. So now im stuck possibly needing to replace the entire gas tank due to this one little connector. Am I missing something? I couldnt find this fuel line online anywhere in any fuel system diagram for the 2nd gen tacoma.

If this line just returns fuel vapor to the tank im wondering if I could just slap a hose on and clamp it down on both ends as a fix since it seems like I cant replace the line. Any suggestions on what are my options here?

If the hose ends at 5/16", then a 3/8" I.D. hose can slip over the barbs, with a little lube and persuasion. Then hose clamp it down.

Or, there are 5/16" quick disconnect fittings available with a barb end to fit into the hose. Then it would be new, but like OEM.

Thanks for pointing me in this direction, didnt realize there were universal quick connects i could just swap it out with, going to check my local auto parts stores for a replacement

this quick connector doesnt work on this particular fuel line, it doesnt stay clipped in, doesnt have enough depth to get past the lip on the fuel line.

screw it going to hack it together with a hose to barbed fitting

Hey Taco Wolf, I recently did the same thing! That particular Stubborn ass quick connect just would not come off! So I snapped off “accidentally” as I was lowering the tank trying to get a better view of connector while under truck. I was replacing fuel pump therefore had to remove the tank to replace. I did what you asked about and replaced the entire vent hose with a longer one and clamped on tank nipple and installed a new quick connect to metal hose. I ordered a couple different sizes and sent back the ones that didn’t fit. Faster better cheaper. I actually made all the hoses longer except the filler hose for easier installation especially doing solo with a floor jack on the ground.Hope this helps for future fixes. Here’s some more pics. of what I did. No leaks. Yet! LOL! Like I stated I made these hoses longer. Kinda sucks doing the work on the ground solo.
