I made a potentially expensive mistake - I forgot to center my steering wheel when I pulled everything out to replace the rack. I had it full lock left to remove the rack, then at some point it got rotated some unknown amount...then I thought I centered it, second guessed myself, corrected my correction, got mixed up as I'm not sure I rotated the right direction or not - you get the idea. This was my last task after a long day under the thing and that was mistake #2: 'thinking' while exhausted and dehydrated.

My question: Is there any way to read current/actual steering position via OBD scanner/Techstream? I've seen a few methods and techniques to re-zero the sensor (which I will eventually need to do), but I'm trying to get my wheel back to its current zero point so I don't break the clock spring...if I haven't already...

Yes if you have a scan tool that can read ABS data you should be able to view the current steering angle value.

I had to pop the battery in and power up for an unrelated task this evening; I did see the airbag light come on and then go out as normal - does this mean there's hope it's not FUBAR?

Time will tell but as long as you didn't rotate the clockspring past it's range of travel you should be fine.
