    Hi All,

    Newbie here with a 2012 Taco SR5.

I installed a Redarc Liberty break controller (https://www.redarcelectronics.com/us/tow-pro-liberty-electric-brake-controller) and it (the break controller) is giving me some wildly inconsistent flashing lights/patterns. It's not working.

What's more troubling, this install caused my power windows and power mirrors to stop working entirely, and my power locks only work when I use the remote... no response from the manual lock switch.

Tried unplugging the break controller and same issues with the lock/mirrors/windows.

I'll gladly send a $25 token of appreciation to anyone who can lead me to success! :)

Did you do any wiring work for the install, or was it completely plug and play? Always disconnect the battery before doing electrical work.

The first thing I'd do is check all the relevant fuses.

No re-wiring, all plug and play... or should say plug and scratch-your-head. Fuses are good.

Have you tried disconnecting your battery for ~30 minutes so the ECU can reset? Hopefully there's a simple solution out there for you.

Can't see the brake controller having anything to do with your issues,
Did it all stop at once?

Well, you did buy a "break" controller. They break stuff. You need a "brake" controller. :)

    Dm93 - yup, an all-at-once debacle

Touché Marshall, thanks for keeping me honest. It is indeed a brake controller after all

Only commonality I can find is Ground Point IA behind the left kick panel unless you somehow disturbed a harness connector back there while plugging in the brake controller.

So I've entirely disconnected the newly installed brake controller, including the ground, and all fuses (both in cab and in engine compartment) are good.

Still zero response from power windows, power windows, or power locks. Ugh.

Did you check the ground I mentioned and any other connectors that may have been disturbed?

As far as I'm aware, ground IA and all other connections are as they previously were

Turns out I ordered a wiring harness for a 3rd gen instead of a 2nd gen. Still chasing the fix though.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Did you check with a voltmeter? Sometimes blown fuses are hard to see. And did you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes to let the vehicle reset?

Do the power mirrors not work on either side or only the drivers side?

    Neither side power mirrors work.

I did check fuses for continuity and they're all good.

Well let's start there, should be pretty easy.
Pop the mirror switch out and check at the connector, Pin 8 (Grey) should have Power with the key on, Pin 7 (White/Black) should be Ground at all times.
