are you going to polish or paint the lip? I have a set of SR8s still in the box and would love to do this.

This is my 3rd set of SCS wheels, I’ve sanded the lips on all of them. The 1st set I sanded to a semi-mirror finish but did not like it and roughed the lips back up a little, I did spray a clear coat on them, but noticed the clear-coat scratched somewhat easily, but was ok.

The second set I sanded semi rough with 60 grit and no clear coat, they’ve been on for a year now, I’ve used an SOS pad to clean them up once, they still look fantastic and are on my truck now. They are 16’s and I’m switching to 17’s due to tire size availability. I’m going to leave these as is, might do something with the center cap, otherwise I’m done. Unless I get silly and change the color?

Post 14 of this thread has my 1st set (Ray10’s) and my 2nd set (SR8’s)

PS, it’s Saturday, started a new job Wednesday and am drinking right now, please forgive any and all grammatical failures : /

I have a set of the SCS stealth rims I bought with the machined lip on them. They have a clear coat on them that’s peeling of now. I would love to have the Ray10s with a machined lip but I don’t need 3 sets of rims.

Little late to the party on this thread. Just wanted to add to the discussion. It would really cool if the SCS guys would produce a set of machined rings that you could purchase for the fake bead locks.

Would you mind sharing a bit more about how you went about sanding the rings? Were yours originally black painted? Any info would be great!

My latest set. Small electric hand sander, corse sand paper to remove paint, fine tune the shine with less corse paper and and so on…

once you have the paint removed (it’s thick), I moved the sander round and round as a wheel rolls to even out the metal. It probably took an hour per wheel, remove stainless bolts first : )

I left the metal a bit ruff to covers scratches and used a SOS pad occasionally to clean them up. Never had any corrosion or rusting.

The stealth indigo versions should have had a machined lip finish. How did you rotate the wheel while sanding?
