Deka Intimidator AGM 9A24F upgrade and Toyota cables Big 7! I’m getting 13.9 volts running and 14 volts when truck is off. Tested with a Dewalt 30amp battery charger with stock alternator I think it is well in range and a good choice .

Why would the voltage be higher with the truck not running? It would be lower since the alternator is not charging.

Looking at one of these for my next battery, how's it holding up?

Did you have to do anything to the charging system, diode booster, etc?

Just get a regular lead free. Get cheapest and good warranty from large based retailer. AGM, and everything costlier and fancier is waste of money. Diode booster!? You must be joking.

Are you sober? Lead free battery? Diode booster on a 3rd gen?

Thanks for the worthless feedback, but unless you're running the same battery as the OP I don't have a need for your opinion.

Lots of threads out there covering the potential for upping the OEM charging voltage when running an AGM. Do a little digging before you chime in to a thread without any knowledge on the subject.

OTT boosted my alternator to push 14.2v into my Optima Red. Still strong after four years.

How much did you have to pay for that?

Speak to your tuner. It's a setting that's adjustable when you get a tune, so it's usually included in the cost of the tune.

What I'm getting at is that's 500+ if you didn't intend on getting a tune in the first place to just run a different battery.

A tune on 3rd gen tends to be necessary due to the shit OEM tune with frequent gear hunting and throttle lag. Are you on the "stock" Magnuson tune?

Most simple OBD-2 scanners can upgrade the battery charging.

Got any more information on this? I can't seem to find any. I'd be interested as I don't want to tune and throw away the certified warranty that's good thru 2030 or 100k (40k to go) on mine.

Would getting OTT negate your warranty? Is this documented somewhere? Asking as I'm considering getting the tune.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Not that I've ever heard. Maybe through Techstream, but not through an OBD-2 scanner. Mine was adjusted through my tune.

Maybe not but my other car is a VW which is now out of warranty but with those if the dealer sees that the no. of reflashes on the ecu is not what it should be, your car gets flagged in their system and they can deny warranty claims based off of that.

this is one of those technicality/ethical things.

you're modifying toyota's operational software for the truck. re-read the clauses of the trucks warranty. this is no different than installing 49's and then complaining about road noise.

what do you value more? your warranty or your modifications?

the chances of getting caught and warranty coverage denied is slim, but not any less slim than robbing banks in multiple states before being caught and charged...

like i said, partly ethical, partly technical.
