When it comes to the rear wheel drive sports car segment. More Zs were sold in 2024 than Supras.
    https://www.motor1.com/news/746182/nissan-z-outsells-toyota-supra/

I couldn't recall if the Supra was being dropped for 2025, the base model is.

What happens when BMW drops or updates this platform does the Supra get an update or is dropped altogether?

The Supra is a good sports car and so is the Z4. I wonder if the Supra is a success as a model? Not being 100% Toyota and it's based off a German car. I don't believe the Supra is supposed to be a sales leader or compared to a Corolla Cross.

I haven't looked at the numbers but BMW sales seem to have taken a nose dive in the US over the past few years, and I don't think that does anything to move Supras.

How will automotive history judge the 5G Supra?

Edit BMW sales were up for 2024

I believe I saw recently that this will be the last year of the Supra. Making some special edition to go out with a bang.

I believe this is also the last generation for the Z. The supras are nice but ill totally take the Z over the supra any day.

The new Z is such an ugly car though. The 370 looked so much better.

Toyota barely produces the gr86 and supra. They don’t seem pressed to build more to even meet the demand. It’s pretty frustrating

Toyota rear wheel drive sportscars? You mean the one with the BMW engine or the other with the Subaru engine. What did they expect?

    Original with factory replacement parts.
I was recently informed of some major issues with the Nissan and Dymler/Chrysler CV transmissions. They are failing and there is no repairing it. Only a replacement is an option.
The other issue is D/C has failed to keep up with paying the independant lab for the testing of their transmissions...at the tune of hundreds of thousands dollars.

Basically I was told to steer clear.

    Sliders, 6112's, full skids.
They are both great cars. Enthusiast judgement is clouded by nostalgia for the Mk4. Remove that hype and the new z and Supra are objectively better performance cars. I personally had no problem with the bmw partnership. BMW knows how to build a good chassis and BMW’s inline 6 is a great refined performance engine. I personally like the styling of the Z better but it feels cheaper in almost every way.

The real nail in the coffin is dealership markups. Haven’t seen many Supra’s below 60k. I have seen many Z’s priced much lower. So that probably adds to the sales gap we are seeing.

The performance car market is great right now, but these prices are out of hand. Love the type r and GR corolla, but hard to stomach when they 50k+ before dealer markups. The gr86 is now a 30k vehicle.

Thats before we even begin to consider the idiotic tariffs that will drive up the cost of every make and model, and further limit competition and model availability.

You've got that right. There are some really cool cars out there right now, but not to be had for the average Joe. I also just can't stomach the price on a gr86 when used BRZ's are selling at $8500-18k in my area (depending on mileage/condition of course).

I see a newer supra on the road maybe once a month if that. I never see any of Nissan's newer Z cars on the road.

Same here. Only ever seen a youtuber/influencer in a new Z. Still haven't even seen one out in the wild yet, although I'd love to.

Im not sure where you guys are located but here in SoCal I see them around. In fact there are 2 of them within a mile apart from where I live. Both owned by young guys. Although you wont see the new Zs as much as a Supra they are out there. At least here in California.

I see more C8 Vettes on the road than Supras and Z cars combined. I do see a few Z cars now and again.
