Haven't run the truck in a while. I'm talking days. Maybe a week?

Thinking when I do start it in another few days, I'd like to prime the oil pump so it isn't running dry for a short stretch. In my old Ranger there was a start up sequence (L L R R U D U D B A START - or something like that) where I could make the engine turn over for a few revolutions (10 seconds) before it fired the spark and tried to light a piston off.

Been searching and Googling and all I could find was instructions to manually crank the engine with a long ratchet and some obviously AI generated bull-shizzle that I wouldn't trust. Not what I'm looking for. Hoping the battery and starter can do this job for me. Does the 2023 Tacoma have such a feature?

I wouldn't be concerned about it but if you are you can pull the INJ Fuse (10A) to prevent it from starting although that may set codes.

Mine regularly sits for weeks at a time. Never worried about it still no issues after years of doing it.

Manually jumping the starter relay, but this is also bad as you can expand the blade receivers and result in a no-start one day.

You don't have to prime Toyotas, the film stays on the components for years and as long as you give it time to run its fine.

The best is Nissan for priming, you simply just hold the gas pedal down. I was really disappointed Toyota didnt do the same when I started at the dealer level.

Nearly all domestics have a clear flood mode if you hold the accelerator all the way to the floor but many others like Toyota and Honda don't.

I prime big engine jobs out of habit, and its annoying how the whole shop thinks you f'd up and its not starting.

The tundras lifters make a racket after a top end job so I do it as a good luck process lol

so you just want it to crank? I was assuming wanted to prime the system as in removing the oil pressure sending unit or modifying the oil filter w/ a fitting and sending in pressurized oil that way. like on a new build.
just fire it off. little to no gain in cranking it slowly vs letting the idle rpm circulate it, if its not making pressure in the first 2 seconds there's a bigger problem.

Yeah that was the idea. Just have it move some oil to the top end at starter speeds before fire and friction kick in.

What benefit do you think you are getting?

All the same parts are going round and round, who cares if the engine is going bang or not

Agreed but going around much slower. I don't think the starter turns it over at 2,000 RPM.
    Benefit is a little Pre-Lube.

But this isn't a hill, I'm willing to die on. Was just wondering if it was possible since it seems to be something other manufacturers do. And for all of the ballyhoo and chest thumping in forums over if start up wear is or is not a thing, I've seen zero evidence that it is bad or harmful. So it boils down to a matter of taste, preference, belief. Maybe it really does do nothing in the grand scheme. As long as it doesn't cost anything to do it, what's the harm?

    Kinda where I'm ending up.

I did try holding down the gas pedal all the way - no start.
Held down brake and gas at the same time - normal start.

Doesn't seem to be a start up sequence for this truck so it's not something I'm going to sweat.
