    Morning,

After reading and watching various methods of attaching various rubber tool clamps and different companies, DIY, that sell the metal bars to hold and drop down tools on tacoma bed rail, I got to thinking, any idea or think it would be possibly to securely Hold a 27 inch shovel by drilling into 1 or 2 of those plastic tacoma bed cleats and mounting the rubber camps to those? It would give clearance from side of truck Bed but would it be too much that it causes downward force on T nut connection to the rail given bouncing nature of tool and truck movement? I have 8 bed cleats unused so Just an idea looking for recommendations on this. Thank you

I just made some mounts out of scrap steel that I drilled out and attached to T nuts in the rails on one end and quick fist clamp to hold the shovel. Super cheap, I couldn't bring myself to pay for the nice ones from a fab shop or whatever.

OMG that is a mean looking shovel!

I never saw one with teeth, and I've been in landscaping a long time! LOL

    What are you digging?

I see you're from Texas. Is that for killing snakes or other critters?

My idea is to drill into the side of this bed clet.. the U side that is towards the bed, then I would attach a quick fist with a nut or screw into there… would that be able to hold the weight of the 27 inch shovel from
Harbour freight? Without flexing too much from bed and truck movement? Just considering it as a cost effective option given I have several bed cleat I’m
    Not using
