    Morning all:

Welcome to the newcomers to the thread.

Glad to hear that those with bugs are feeling better, they are saying it's a bad year for both the flu and a new strain of Covid.

That cutting board sure is nice Tom, I have a couple of ancient ones here that look nothing like that!

Yes, I always called it Charger stadium, but at the time it was actually Jack Murphy stadium.

    Good Morning!

I'm slowly making my way back to Sacramento. Oh, how it has changed over the years! The family is all over the place, hence the move back home, but the city has changed over the years. My first job was right off I-80, pumping gas off Fulton Avenue. My next job was at an auto parts store down on 16th Street.

If you grew up in Sacramento in the 1970s, Memorial Auditorium was the place to be. My brother Dave lived downtown, and a friend of his worked there and would always hook us up with tickets, often for free. Yes, she was sweet on my dear brother, who looked like he should be a Marbolo Man (thankfully, he didn't smoke).

A week ago, I was out enjoying 80F bike riding weather. Today's high is 45, and the low is 27 (I'm just north of Austin, TX). It's time to see if I still have some long pants. I cleaned the closet and took all my wife's coats to the Ministry services, but I also failed to pay attention to my one jacket! Thankfully, I have a Marino Wool Hoodie from the Ukraine. It showed up a week ago, and it's warm!

Oh man it has changed, unfortunately not for the better. The place is getting crowded. I lived up the hill in Shingle Springs (about 40 miles east of Sac) for 24 years. I had to move back to Sac in 09 to take care of my mom. I met a sweet lady during that time and got married. So here I am, back in Sacoftomatos.

    Thanks for all the welcomes.

I'm not much into ball sports, I watch occasionally. I'm mainly into racing, especially 2-wheeled dirt thingies. I still mountain bike but just for fun. No more motorized dirt rockets. The problem is when I fall I don't bounce, I thud. I guess it comes with age. Now I just watch Moto and SX mainly.

I drink a lot less whiskey, but I enjoy it more.

I'm happily married. We don't argue, we don't fight, we just enjoy life. Who wants chaos this late in life? We've got enough action with 5 dogs.

There's a little about me. Looking forward to learning a little about you.

My sister lives in East Sacramento, so I am considering buying the house beside her. Timeline will work with her neighbor, who wants to leave California. The irony is my place in Texas is a 5/3 on 1.5 acres, pool, 1500 sq shop, etc. It is nice and peaceful, but midtown & east Sacramento give me many walking options. Traffic sucks, but walking or bicycling is my plan.

I'm going through old paperwork and realized that the capital improvements on my current home will cost about $300k over 25 years. I'm laughing about the days when we first bought it: horrible vinyl with a gas station baseboard (yeah!). My wife asked me to buy a tile saw; she did the 12" tiles, and I purchased a wood trim saw and did all the inside molding and door trim. Two IBM engineers were building the house themselves and got transferred back to NY, so we got a diamond in the rough. Very rough. Amazingly, we didn't kill each other, but that first year was insane. There is a lot of sweat equity in this place. The current price is a bit of a mind-blower, but I can sell it and buy a bungalow in Sacramento.

My son is game to move out there, so we'll tear down the existing 1940 garage (big enough for a Model T!) and replace it with an ADU over the Garage. The ADU will be 24' x 36' (roughly), giving a decent garage, 24 x 24 and 24 x 12 workout rooms with 3/4 bath downstairs, and an 800 sq ft apartment upstairs (about the size of the bungalow house!). The garage will be 10' in interior height, allowing a car lift on one side so his 240SX can tuck in and he can park under it.

This style fits in with the neighborhood (built from 1910 to 1940)

We had five residents, shown in the photo, and four fosters. Yes, nine dogs, oh my. It was easy as my older residents kept the fosters in check. All were Golden Retrievers or mixes that snuck into the local Golden Retriever Rescue.

I was the same with my wife, who got me into watching football! I hear you about the thud! Sadly, my wife passed away last month, so I have to be more careful about my falls (part of the reason for moving back to Sacramento). The photo is of my son, me, my sister, and my nephew. The house in the background is on 41st, my Grandmother's house right behind Mercy (where I was born). "Hope in Your Corner" is the Parkinson's Boxing Gym in Sacramento.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your wife.

This is my third marriage and by far the best. Before this marriage, I was married for 31 years. People say, "Wow! You were married for 31 years.". I say, "Yes, it was 6 of the happiest years of my life.".

We've had 9 dogs and 3 cats. But they were all small dogs. 9 Goldens, holy crap! Golden Labs are such a great breed. My son has a Golden tripod. Huck is a sweet boy. He doesn't know he has only 3 legs.

I've got two heart conditions, it's a motor or no ride. I'm not supposed to go over 140 bpm. I've got a carbon Creo also.

No worries, no offense taken. I bought one because I'd always have to cut rides short. All my buddies (all 60+) got tired of me kicking there butts. Now we all ride ebikes. They are hella fun.

Good morning all. I guess winter is finally here in my neck of the woods. I do not enjoy it. Can I just go hibernate until this is over? I think I have sufficient body fat stored.....:pccoffee:
