I have 2013 Tacoma with GR-FE 4.0 v6. need to replace coolant temp sensor. After locating at rear of motor, I need to dis connect what I think is a fuel line. there is a plastic box covering the connection of rubber to steal. can any one tell how to get box off to do disconnect. trying to do without pulling intake manifold.

I don’t remember a plastic box being near the sensor.

You sure you are on the right sensor?

have been researching all day the last info I have is from Toyota but I I'm still not positive I have right one. Just got an estimate from local repair shop, sounds like they have to pull intake manifold just to get to it. $671.07

The plastic box is 1 inch sq. looks like a cover for the line connection. the line runs directly over the sensor

You don't necessarily have to remove the intake to change the coolant temp sensor although it isn't fun to change with the manifold in place.
I can't go look at mine right now to see what's in the way.

What leads you to suspect the sensor is bad? They don't fail very often.
