I don't think it tastes particularly like corn either but it is made from corn kernels; I find it has a mild corny flavor at best..

Anyways I used to hate the stuff till I ate some of Rocie's pozole - it was really good mixed in. She also made pozole verde which was even better.

Verde is my preference, but we always put enough red chile in the verde that sometimes it's tough to remember which I started with.

Hominy is similar to tofu, in that it tastes pretty much like whatever you put it in

The Latin version elotes (aka street corn) is awesome. The Vietnamese have a similar offering.
