Ask if they will give you a tour during your install, was pretty interesting.

I think the new doors are significantly more complicated to make than the original - it's not just 2 flaps and two zips (per side) any more. There are zippers all the way around and there are flaps to keep rain off the zippers. this way you can zip down from the top - a very nice feature if you want some light/ventilation and a little privacy!

I think it would be around that much time if you did it here or in Vietnam. But the labor in Vietnam is so cheap it's almost a rounding error compared to materials, factory profit, shipping, and import duties/tarrifs. To say nothing of the joy of opening up your cartons of freshly received product to find out they're all defective.

You may think GFC's product is worth it or not, but based on my own experience of making the same product here, Canada, and Vietnam, if you were to make the EXACT same product there, the total cost would probably not be cheaper. Could you make something similar for less? Yes. And folks do. But not the exact same product.

FS: Solar Mount System $250. Can Ship!!! (buyer pays shipping)

The solar mount system is my design, specifically for the GFC camper. At one point I was considering offering them for sale, still might. It is adaptable to some other camper designs, Alucab, etc. (note the end brackets are not anodized). This system sits slightly lower than the GFC Beef Bar, so you can still carry items on them.

The GFC offered system is $579 for mounting 1 panel.
    https://gofastcampers.com/products/solar-starter-kit

The panels have been sold. Included is the mounting system for 1 or 2 Renogy 100-watt Solar Panels.
    https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Light...171&sprefix=renogy+solar+,aps,179&sr=8-3&th=1

The system was mounted for over 2 years, accumulating well over 100 days and 1000's of miles on trails. Including Washington state BDR, Arizona, Nevada and Nor Cal BDR's, couple trips to Moab, into Colorado (Imogene pass, Engineer pass, etc.) plus several other trips in Utah and Arizona, never had any issues. (BDR = Back Country Discovery route)

Has anyone mounted an awning using non-gfc brackets?

Currently looking at getting some U-brackets or playing with some 90 degree L-brackets

I used the front runner quick release awning brackets to mount a 6 foot awning. I bought some U channel on mcmaster to create a bracket to stick the front runner mount to. https://forum.gofastcampers.com/t/quick-release-awning-mounts/17691/5

I mounted an OVS 270 LTE awning using the Ironman 4x4 quick release awning mounts.

I kind of inverted the mounts, so the male end attaches to the awning, and female end is mounted to the side extrusion of the GFC. had a buddy fab me up a bracket to connect the male end to the brackets, and used mcmaster carr for the hardware. it sits like a couple inches off the GFC, between the bracket depth and the thickness of the mounts.

Ah sweet thanks just read through that a bit. Was is this mount? Saw a couple kit options. Like that idea

    This guy?

Why couldn’t you bolt the mount to the gfc slider mounts? (Forgot the name :anonymous:).
Also is anything really affected by having the awning out a few inches?

So the female side is bolted directly to the extrusions using their drop in T nuts, the male side I couldn't bolt directly to the awning because the holes didn't line up. rather than drilling through the mount, I had my buddy make me the bracket out of 1/4" steel plate. figured that would be more secure lol. sorry for the confusion

haven't noticed any issues having the awning out a couple inches.

Just received and installed my new frame bags for the GFC .

We typically run an add a room on the drivers side and don’t use that panel so opted the storage to be on the inside of the bed on that side.
