How on earth did you plug the 3rd gen harness into your 2nd gen? I bought a Redarc that came with the 3rd gen harness and the plug was a totally different style - there would be no way to accidentally plug it in. Not sure if it's helpful at all, but here's my experience modifying the Redarc 3rd gen harness (with use of a plug from an OEM trailer harness) to fit my 2nd gen.

Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten to test the brake controller with an actual trailer. But, otherwise, I haven't had any issues.
