So after replacing a bunch of suspension parts, I went in for an alignment. I was told that the cam bolt on one of my LCAs is “no good” and they wouldn’t be able to hold the caster or camber in place. Told me if I bought a new LCA and bolts then they’d replace it for 100$, which seems to be a really good deal and I’m gonna do it. However I just checked it out myself and I found that one of the tabs are bent that hold the washers in place. Will I still be able to get the truck aligned with a new LCA if one of the tabs are bent? Or should I see if they can bend it back into place and put a bead behind it before doing the LCA. I could always do the marlin or total chaos kit but I’d like to avoid spending the extra money if possible

What does "no good" actually mean? Is it frozen? About the only thing that can happen is the cam assemblies wont turn freely in which case you replace them.

Did they bend the tab trying to force it? With a flattened tab there is nothing for the cam to turn against so until it is fixed/repaired/replaced it is impossible to align.

Not sure I understand the logic in replacing the control arm if the cam/bolt is bad. Are the guides on the arms wasted or something?

Honestly I have no idea. I’m new to all of this so I guess that’s a good point, if it’s just the cam bolt I don’t see why I would need a whole new LCA. Only thing I can think of is that I have a brand new one on the drivers side but the passenger side is old. Shop broke mine and replaced it for free when doing my ball joints. So I guess it’s impossible to do the alignment with one of the tabs bent? And even if I get a new cam bolt I’d still have the issue of the bent tab preventing an alignment?

Can you take a pic of the area where the adjustment cam meets the control arm? The arms have tabs on them that the cam pushes on but someone would really need to be a jackass to mess them up unless they were badly rusted.

first picture is at the front of the truck and the tabs only slightly bent, the second picture is the back where it looks like the washer ran over the tab and flattened it. I’m starting to think cam tab gussets might be my only option

Ahh, yeah, you could weld some new tabs on there. Bum deal.
