Id take some of these over my charges. House and a truck, just under 5k with USAA in CT. I've been with USAA over 20 years and I still haven't seen rates go down lol. I'll be following.

...^^^... Mine is $2400.00 every 6 mo. with USAA on a 4 year old 3200 sq ft. house. No claims and good credit. New rate
Car is $345.00 mo USAA with highest limits I can get ... new rate on 2024 4Runner
2Mill Umbrella is $34.00 a mo USAA ... new rate

Umbrellas are the cheapest insurance you can buy on your vehicle and home.

And maxed out on uninsured motorist for those azzoles with no insurance and no licenses

I have No claims anywhere and good credit .... Coastal Florida and CA are even worse.

Have to do that in the south with soooooooo many driver without insurance and even WITHOUT a LICENSE.

Sooo ... I am paying for all of those people without insurance and no licenses ... about 34% of my policy ... and you maybe too.

I have to keep high limits to safeguard my home and family if one of these uninsured azzoles causes a big wreck and I am involved.
    ....
This lady was was run into by an uninsured, unlicensed azzole ...then she hit a tractor trailer with expensive electronics causing it to overturn ... and she had to pay because of her deeper pockets .... SECONDARY LIABILITY it was called I think ... it was on the news 1 year ago.

I just switched from GEICO to progressive. $555 a month with GEICO for full coverage on 13 & 14 Tacomas, liability on 06 Tacoma & 94 k1500. $279 a month with progressive & added full coverage to the 06 Tacoma. Full coverage in Louisiana is comp & collision.

Lol, I just dumped progressive for the lizard. Same coverages except increased medical to 7500 from 5k. Saving $600 a year. Moving after new years, so I'll definitely shop around again. Insurance is such a rip.

so the thing i always give pause to with uninsured coverage is the specifics. unfortunately, i've known two different people that had issues with uninsured motorists.

the thing that catches me off about the whole thing is that uninsured motorist coverage only comes into play if the uninsured motorist is stopped, apprehended by police, and official charges are filed that they didn't have insurance. anything less than that means an insurance claim is the same as if you did the damage yourself, and can't fall under uninsured motorist coverage.

it's a rough spot to be in. one of the cases i know of, the uninsured motorist t-boned the person i know, and they ran. the person i know had to give chase with a flat front tire, dragging on the metal bumper, with the airbags in the way on the steering wheel, in order to catch up and get the police to file the appropriate charges, just so he wouldn't personally be on the hook for the damages they caused.

    ...^^^... Interesting info.

FWIW, I also have a 3 channel dash cam and may help.

I am lucky to live in a rural area north of Atlanta (30 miles out) and the cops here are VERY tough, everywhere and will do a pursuit.

In some of those rural counties south of Atlanta, they will chase you down no matter the road and the speed ... and they have hot cars.

It's like rural Arkansas on COPS-TV. :D

A lot of these cops think it's back in the days of the old "Thunder Road Movie" :) when they ran moonshine from No. GA to So. GA ..

Personally, I love it when the cops chase down the bad guys in an high speed chase. :burnrubber:

We have State Police and a Federal Marshal in our family and they have some wild stories.

Funny how that works. Could just be a newcomer rate, but I’m ok with saving money for six months. I had GEICO for over a decade. Never shopped around until this year when they had a substantial increase.

Same, I was with progressive for almost a decade. No accidents or tickets.

I had a bear rip into the tonneau on my truck this past August on a vacation trip across country in NC. I opened a claim, but decided not to proceed thinking they wouldn't raise my rate. Progressive jacked up my rates anyway, so I proceeded with the claim yesterday and took the 2k payout check. Today I switched companies. :brianr:

lucky, I’m still dealing with a hit and run where a witness followed the other car until they got pulled 11 miles away…the cop still didn’t charge the other driver

Well. I live in Denver. Every 5th car does not have a license plate & you know they don’t have a license & insurance.

My coworker was hit by a gentlemen from Honduras last month. Small fender bender & a broken taillight. They had no license, registration & insurance. So it was a see you later situation.

I’ve had USAA for over 20 years. My taco & 4runner is $255 a month. We have everything & gap insurance included on the 4Runner. Taco is paid off. It’s not a fun world right now in insurance land.

...^^^... I think a "hit & run" is an automatic felony in GA ... IF ... there is personal injury ... otherwise a misdemeanor ... but still chargeable offense.

I can't understand why the "hit & run driver" was not charged ...

It is here too, my vehicle had injuries. It was pure lazy/sloppy police work, which that dept is know for. The officer said he likes to focus on one thing at a time so he didn’t press charges or issue citations…he didn’t even get the police report right. I used to could leave the keys in the ignition and never lock my doors, that’s not the case any more

...^^^... I think you can get an ... "Amended Police Report" ... if you think there is a mistake or information that was omitted.

I would think that there is some way you could get this "Hit & Run" info before a DA ... I would sure try.

Basically this cop could be viewed as the judge & jury when it comes letting this "hit & run person" off ?? ... with no ticket ??

There has to be a way around this cop's judgement ... LEO Supervisor, LEO Chief, DA, Traffic Court Judge ... someone has to listen ??

Speaking with him he said he can’t amend the report because it’s too difficult, plus he already did it once. He had copy pasted from a previous accident report and forgot to change the report number which caused issues from the start. His amended report changed the incident number and put the correct dates in. His sgt said only the reporting officer can make changes. The whole system should n my area tailors to criminals

Florida is definitely jacked up, I know people there paying double what I pay elsewhere, even on 20+ year old vehicles.

I've yet to find an insurance company I can stick with for more than 5 years before needing to switch. The rates always creep up over time. AAA was my favorite as far as customer service goes, and very low price to add additonal vehicles. I just recently switched from State Farm to Progressive, but kepy my homeowner policy where it was because it was still cheaper than moving it to Progressive even with the multi-policy discount. Shit's a total racket designed to take advantage of anyone not paying attention.
