Speaking of the Super Tenere I finally washed it. Looks so much better not covered in grime!

Yeah im good. *knocks on wood* none of the fires are near me (camarillo). But yeah the winds have been GNARLY and its been very dry.... current fires are nearing maui levels of bullshit miss management by the local govt entities.... LA City just pulled something like 17million in funding to LAFD... Worst part is these high winds have been predicted for over a week, yet nothing was done to fill up local reservoirs and bolster pumping stations so fire hydrant infrastructure could be continuously utilized. Defensible spaces were not enforced etc etc... Needless to say LA and how it operates (as well as CA as a whole) is not something anyone should EVER look to on how to effectively run an area. I could continue this rant but it would probably get me banned.

Definitely not as close to me as the "Mountain Fire" at the beginning of november, I had some friends family members loose homes in that one.

Man I love Bad Religion. Had the pleasure of seeing them live in a tiny club in Seattle when their big venue cancelled, they still kick ass.

I was a wildland firefighter for a few years, it's no fuckin joke. You can only do so much, work your ass off all day clearing land and one ember catches the wind and everything goes up. I can't imagine trying to fight that fire in the city

    Yeah wildfires are no joke.

That stated most of this stuff here that you are seeing within the city burning is simply negligence of defensible space, lack of planning etc.

You literally had beach front property burn up. One harbor freight gas powered water pump at your house and a nice long suction hose into the ocean.... Property saved. Calimigos ranch made an impromptu roof mounted sprinkler setup before a fire rolled through there a while back... One of the only things saved in the area.

Pops was on LAFD for 30 some years now retired. The stories he has of the absolutely asinine orders that came down from the top were wild. Hell when a fire a few years ago rolled through not far away next to some property of his in LA county he went out there, got told it's an evac zone, told them to fuck off send a sheriff. Ended up saving the whole neighborhood by putting out spot fires with a hose and bucket (neighborhood backs up to open space).

Either way it's nuts out here when fires occur.... Things need to change.

Back to moto things. Out on the lil xt225 for an evening rip around town for errands. I love this thing!

I should have started on a XT250 or 225, nearly perfect for learning on.

+1. Buddy who never rode a moto before I set him up on the xt225 and he had a blast. Any of that "not full size dirtbike but not pit bike size" "old school" "tractor air cooled 4 strokes" are the beez knees to learn on

19 degrees this morning and our roads still have patches of snow and ice plus the salt/cinders they put down. No riding for me for a little until that craps cleared up. Vintage motorcycle show and swap meet coming up this Sunday near me. Friend of mine is coming in as a vendor and staying at my place Saturday night. He's the US rep for Ikon Suspension.

Dealers are ridiculous with used bike pricing, they put them near MSRP then try to justify by saying you're saving the freight/fees off a new bike which is bullshit. I often wonder though how many of my previous vehicles/bikes are still out there somewhere.

That's good to hear, my wife is 5'7" so a little taller. It's gotta be better than my SDR ha. I've seen a couple nice looking Super Tens in the $5-7k range that are tempting. Will have to go sit on one and check it out.

I leave the bike on the center stand and it’s super stable so she just steps up on the rider’s peg and swings over and scoots back to the rear seat. She doesn’t seem to mind it.

question for dirtbike/supermoto guys in here.

if you were going to build a set of supermoto wheels but needed the hubs where would you get them? yes i can get them from kawasaki but the issue with that is the oem hub is 436 dollars for the rear and front is 356 dollars... at that cost it almost makes sense to just buy them prebuilt and setup at 1700...

main reason i ask is i have a 17in i think rear? drz400sm wheel in my garage has no spokes no hub nothing. the drz rear wheels are a tad wider then the oem klx300sm wheels but most say they will fit just fine in the rear but might rub a tad in the front on the fork guards which is easy to trim.

You can buy hoops and spokes a lot of places. Rmatvmc, maybe direct through excel/bulletproof designs/Dubya as below.

You have to make sure the hoops work with the hub though iirc. IE correct angle? And spoke count

im guessing that is a term for the hubs? are those usually cheaper then oem or about the same cost?
