4wd engagement when parked

Sorry if there is already a thread like this with an answer but I simply cannot find an answer to this. I have a 2012 Tacoma and in the past it’s been super difficult to my get truck out of 4wd and back into 2wd. Recently whenever I park my truck and turn off the key sometimes it will try to go into 4wd even though I don’t touch the knob or anything. Anyone ever heard about this? Then I have to fight like hell to get it out of 4wd once it’s in. If anyone could help that would be great.

 

Could be the selector switch or one of the limit switches but start here, check your switch inputs to the 4wd ECU and post your results.
