Oh definitely get in there and try if you feel the want or need!

I was just letting you and anyone else reading know that your truck likely isn’t going to explode because it has this issue :)

The only thing in 35yrs automotive experience I have come across like this is a compeomised FLYWHEEL. Wether be cracked, or a flywheel counter weight gets thrown via faulty spot weld. Or simply under engineered/or constructed
    (Gasp! A Toyota!? YUP)

Doubt cam is the issue: Our Taco has 91K mi . Well maintained and not abused. One owner. Started around 86k mi. No reason observed. Occasional nominal loads Half dozen a year. Nothing exceeding factory ratings.

Its been over a year and not sure if you are still a Tacoma owner or monitoring this thread but would like to hear what has happened in the time since tour post.

    best regards

My 2018 does the same thing. I believe it's the torque converter. at 2000 RPMS or WOT the torque converter and the transmission move at the same speed. So I believe it transmitting with some type of interference.
