About to head out on a 1400 mile round trip. I’ve only had the truck a few months, so not sure of all the history. The carfax shows oil changes, brake services, transmission and transfer case fluid changes, spark plug replacement, tire replacements. What other maintenance items would you look at before taking a long trip? 2014 trdor dcab. Thanks for your input!

In my opinion, if you haven’t changed it, you have no idea of its last change.
So all of the above needs to be checked or changed, plus coolant, brake fluid, grease as needed, etc

Every spring and fall I set out on a 1600 mile trip from Ft Myers to Boston (or reverse). I KNOW that my brake fluid is good (<3 years). I KNOW that my ATF is good (< 50K miles). I KNOW that my diff fluid is good (<30K miles). I KNOW that my coolant is good (<5 years). Therefore; I verify my tire pressure, grease my driveshaft, verify that I am not due for an oil change in the next 1600 miles, fill the tank and hit the road.

With an unknown truck, I would change everything above before I set out.

depends on when. Carfax is not worth anything.

this is why inspections are done. Inspect it.

that and maybe anything you suspect on being on its last legs.
For example I did my front belt drive system. Rather have done it now than to have something snap and break during a drive.
It’s old and has miles. So do the components. And some things are wear items with typical finite life spans.

is it a thing to change a frame at 10/100? No.
Is it a thing to change front belt drive components before 200k? Absolutely.

especially if preparing to go on a long drive like that.

I'd check the drivebelt above all else. I try to think of components that would require a tow truck.

How many miles on truck? Definitely check pad wear on brakes. If going into really cold weather, maybe replace battery if it is less than 4 years old, or do a load test on it.

at 200k+ miles, i went on a big trip to Outerbanks after doing front end suspension replacement, brakes and new tires.
Changes my plugs a year or so later that were factory.
Didnt even look at anything else and was fine for next 100k
