they may not be, and the added vibration I would suspect U joints for sure now

Im assuming its the U-Joints, Im going to replace all three and the carrier bearing in a few weeks and I'll share my results.

(Im going to confirm that's this issue first)

    Ok I solved the issue.

Come to find out that the U-Joint furthest back (right infront of the diff) was bad. When I put it in neutral on the lift and moved the driveshaft it made the squeaking noise and the joint had no play. I replaced the U-Joint and now the vibration is gone, so is the sound. They were like 30 bucks at the auto parts store.

The old joint was completely binded up and bone dry. One thing I’ll say, renting the press tool from an auto parts store would have saved a ton of hassle instead of using random c clamps. Anyways just wanted to share my results.

Dunno, my 1968 has a Dana driveshaft with greaseable joints front and rear as OE. And it's an AMC. And the ball joints and tie rod ends have grease fittings. The removal of grease fittings has been in the last 30 years IME.

I had a 1992 Eagle talon that didn't have any grease fittings on the driveshaft, but the caps could easily be removed. I pulled the driveshaft at ~150K, pulled the caps, and added some grease with a finger. It lasted just fine for 313k miles when I sold the car. The ball joints had no grease fittings and lasted just fine. My Tacoma has 196K with the original ball joints. I do grease the driveshafts at oil changes every 10-12K miles.

So, I think that the new edict that you don't need grease fittings is generally correct. Yeah, we DIYers want them, but most cars that are in the junkyard without a major wreck get there after 200K, and not because of the lack of grease fittings- they're just worn out, or need a new $3k transmission and it's not worth it.
