I sold my truck camper a month or so ago and been looking for an enclosed to add a bathroom and kitchen and beds and finally found one so bombed up to Reno/Sacramento area on Thursday right in a break between snow and grabbed this 32ft haul mark edge gooseneck. It has so rust I didn’t find till I got home but should work good for my needs

 

Strongly considering selling the 83. Not sure if anyone is interested. I’d really like another 1st gen for a daily. Ideally a 4door with kids in the next couple years but would consider an extra cab if it was manual 4wd. If anyone’s interested let me know.

 

No build updates. My dad came down for a week and we started on adding a bathroom and living quarters in the new trailer. I ended up finding a ton of rust which took longer to fix than I thought but the framing and tanks and drains are all done and rust is fixed. I’ll finish the electrical and plumbing in time for koh hopefully but for now is getting ready for winter4x4 jamboree next week.

 

Winter 4x4 jamboree this week. Smashed the rear tube under the passenger bed side. Little damage but used my dad’s winch to pull it back down. Truck worked good besides the transmission leaking despite just changing the oil pan. Guess I’ll have to look further to find the leak.

 

Videos of that? Did you make it up? Looks hella steep with lots of chances to lose traction along the way.

 

None of me doing it. Couple on Instagram I’ve seen. It was steep. Off camber towards the driver side and it was sandy/lose. I was able to crawl up it with no issue. Maybe a little wheel speed. Everyone else including my dad had to give it a pretty good bump. If I didn’t watch the guy in front of me do it; I probably wouldn’t have. Pretty high consequence roll if things went wrong and it just looked and felt sketchy.

I think that was mostly line choice. They drove straight up and if they didn’t keep the momentum ended up on the back bumper and couldn’t back up to bump it. I came more at an angle with a little momentum and went right up. My dad followed and had no issue as well. Then the rest went back to the original line lol. They strapped probably 20 cars up it lol

Was interesting watching you walk those obstacles that the heeps were struggling on.

 

I’m a little longer than a jk/jl so that helps. My dad’s about the same wheelbase as them. Maybe a little shorter and he followed my line and made it. Just didn’t look as cool with the big wave that they did lol.

 

Trailers almost done. Plumbing and electrical all work. Few small things to finish up and get a mattress. Probably paint the hole inside and outside come spring

Koh was insane. Trip of a life time honestly when I look back at it with my dad which says something because we do a lot of trips together. Trailer worked great. We ran out of fresh water on the 3rd day but the camp next to use was leaving and let us take their extra since they where going home. Every racer we talked to and every car we looked at, everyone was super helpful and answered my million questions. I’ve been to koh a twice to watch but was years ago and once to wheel for thanksgiving but seeing the race now it’s pretty insane. The pace they are doing through the rocks is just fast. Got lots of ideas and lots of motivation to get working and spend some money lol.

We got there Wednesday. Walked the emc tech Thursday and watched some of the utv race. Watched the emc race from chocolate thunder and the 4400 race from the end of tach hammer.

We stayed till the following Tuesday and ran the race course from laser nut alley to the start of jackhammer. We attempted outer limits after finding remote pit 2 but it was so dug up and there wasn’t many people left. Monday we met up with some friends and ran sledge which was good. The trails are pretty insane. Different kind of hard than what I’m used to wheeling. Hoping to spend more time out there wheeling.

 

Finally took the time and installed a harness bar and the prp seats I’ve had.

 

Quick bolt and fluid check. Threw some aluminum cleaner on the wheels and drove it a few miles and it’s ready for tacos on the rubicon this week.

 

Tacos on the rubicon was a good time. No issues. Winched little sluice. Probably one of the rougher years on the trail and definitely the dustiest/dirtiest. A lot of super nice builds.
