    Hi folks,

I recently bought a 2013 SR5 4x4 access cab (64k miles). It's in great condition except the seal or gasket inside the rear window is detaching. The rubber flashing/trim around the perimeter of the window is in good shape and intact, it's not dry rotted or cracked in any way.

Water is now coming in through the window seal.20250112_162838.jpg
Obviously this is a pretty significant problem. The window can now be pulled outward, away from the cab, about 3/4", and you can see clear into the interior through the gap.

I can't find a part number for a gasket, it seems that the entire OEM window assembly is sold as one part.

The failure seems to be mostly in the driver's side top corner, but I imagine that it's only going to continue if I don't address it.

Can I just carefully inject a thick bead of silicone under the rubber flashing to reseal the window?

Do I need to order and replace the entire window ($$$) ?

I've searched the forum and looked through a couple threads but there aren't great suggestions and most OPs never return to the thread AFAICT.

I really like this truck, I saved up and shopped for several months before I bought it because it's in great shape with low milage and the frame is very good for a New England truck. Just need to get this sorted before too long.

Go to an automotive glass shop. They should be able to inject a bead of butyl adhesive sealant in there (like the stuff used to hold the windshield down).

Thanks, that's helpful! I'll try a couple local places before I get in there with the 3M.

From the other, similar, threads here, it seemed like auto glass shops didn't want to touch a window except to replace it entirely, but it can't hurt to ask.

Update: I find a local shop who pulled the window and remounted it with fresh gasket and adhesive. It was only a few hundred, he did professional work and didn't try to sell me a new window.

I had done a bunch of reading and watched a handful of videos and it seemed like there was a good chance I might not do a clean and thorough job with the adhesive and gasket, and there seemed to be some chance that I would break the window which would instantly cancel or any savings from doing it myself. YMMV.
