I have a 2000 Tacoma and the check engine light has been on for awhile. My code reader says it's code P0450 - EVAP system pressure Sensor/Switch A circuit. I haven't taken the truck to my mechanic, but I spoke to him and he said it might be the carbon canisters that have failed. If anyone else had had this problem, can you tell me what the issue was? I've done a little research and it seems these switches may no long be produced.

Edit 02/19/2025 - I think I solved the problem. I bought this item on Ebay: part #89460-04020 3 Pins Fuel Vapor Pressure Sensor for about $14.00. Installed it in about 10 minutes, cleared the error code, and the check engine light has remained off for over a week now so I'm hoping it's fixed.

Pretty sure aftermarket ones are available? Not sure though, I haven't had to dig into evap issues on these.

I found one on ebay, but it doesn't look like the sensor on my truck. I need to do more research on this. Thanks for the reply.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
The charcoal canisters can leak around the seams. You can clean the seams and seal them with black rtv silicone. Leaks can be found with air pressure and soapy water.

Thanks. I spoke to a mechanic friend, and he told me the canisters were notorious for leaking. I'll check it out. I've already ordered an OEM gas cap to make sure that's not the issue.
