I have a RetraxOne XR on a 2018 Tacoma SR5. I bought it second hand, along with the Yakima Overhaul HD setup. I don't recall how long the prior owner owned it, but I've been using it for about 1.5 - 2 years.

I recently was having issues with the Retrax cover not rolling as smoothly so started investigating the problem. First off, I noticed there were some cracks of the polycarbonate along the edges near the roller bearings that run inside of the rails. In one spot there was about an entire inch section missing. Wasn't sure if these things were causing the problem, so continued to disassemble the Retrax cover. Once taken apart, I noticed a lot of the bearings were rusted and/or seized and not spinning. In the manual it says these are sealed bearings and no maintenance is needed. It even says NOT to use a lubricant or spray as that will void the warranty. These parts are mainly hidden inside the rails, so it's hard to know if this is happening unless you take the cover off/apart (I assume the MX rails are the same setup, but I have the XR rails). Has anyone else experience this issue of the polycarbonate cover cracking and/or the sealed bearings rusting/seizing before (I suppose this would apply to the RetraxPro as well)??

I live in FL, so I can see where the elements could affect the polycarbonate over time and make it prone to cracking. To me the real issue is with the sealed bearings rusting/seizing. These are rather expensive covers and to recommend NO maintenance to them, I would expect them to last awhile before an issue like this. Maybe it's just me, but would like to hear if others have experienced this?
