I have a 2021 OR with the TSS grill microwave sensor with what I think is the "standard" chrome Toyota 3-Oval logo on the front of the grill. I would like to change the Chrome to Black, i.e. get rid of the chrome. Much like the steering wheel airbag chrome delete. I have looked into disassembly of the logo, but it seems to be very well put together, or "molded" together rather.

Has anybody changed this out or been successful in disassembly and reassembly? I'm not interested in stickers that outline the chrome logo. I might be resolved to use some vinal wrap if there are no successful suggestions.

Were there any trim levels that had that availability? I have seen 4Runners with a black garnish, but no Tacomas so far. The 4Runners oval logo plate is much smaller than the Tacoma.

I believe that I've seen vinyl overlays on Etsy, but I have the Pro grille, so I haven't paid a lot of attention to it.

    This and that
Tint will help. I’ve used that before. Even had blue laminx on there. But I’ve had a few grilles.

A vinyl overlay is your answer. I also swapped my 19 OR grille for a newer OR grille. But the garnish is the same.

Yup, a vinyl wrap is the conclusion I had come to too.

I was hoping for some other mythical option. I do not like how vinyl weathers over time. I've had some vinyl on another vehicle for over ten years and it degrades quite a bit and is extremely hard to remove after that amount of time. Soon I will be removing it from a hood and another door. I'm procrastinating.

I think I've just talked myself into painting the garnish; just have to be sure the paint does not interfere with the radar signal.

    Note:
I thought vinyl was a permanent application, I have since found out I was under a misconception.

Mines 4 years old now and I haven't noticed any weathering but different strokes for different folks.

    This and that
There are different qualities of vinyl wrap. But nothing lasts forever. Even the Mona Lisa is falling apart.

Same here, vinyl overlay made for outdoor use, 4 years old, no problems.

Just a test with the old material with wrinkles. IMG_2834.jpg
First picture shows just how much the color has degraded.
    The backing print: IMG_2833.jpg

A-TACS in Forest Green is the pattern. I really sort of like the look of the old, faded vinyl.

I took a different approach: kept the Toyota emblem but added the "TRD" letters in the body color (after removing the TRD graphics from the sides of the bed). This Toyota emblem is one of the very few places where chrome is still visible on the truck.
