One more thing, clean the truck really well and look over the paint really carefully from different angles in the dark with a flashlight that helps see the spots. Also, at least on mine since it is black, if I rubbed polish one it, then looked at it in the dark it really made the spots pop out

And of course after cleaning it and polishing it with some wipe on, wash off polish, park next to something in the daylight that cast a good reflection on the paint and look at an angle for deviations in the reflected objects.

Look for pinholes like this... The spots aren't obvious just looking at the truck during the day. You can just barely feel them. You can only see them at night in a reflection.

Even the paint shops at first didn't see the defects right away until they felt the hood and knew where to concentrate on looking. In the daylight you really can't see the spots

I spray off the big stuff, then get a pump sprayer like you use to spray round up or whatever and mix dawn soap and water and spray down the truck. Then spray it off with a sprinkle from the hose and use a micro fiber wash mit to get the left over dirt off.

Then spray it off with light rinse and use another clean microfiber mit to catch any remaining dust.

Then use micro fiber drying towels and chamois to dry.

For black, if you have any scratches this stuff works awesome to remove and cover scratches! Get your own set of applicator pads, so you can use the color (abrasiveness or polisher you need the one it comes with is just a generic pad)

Did you do the polish and if so did they ruin your hood with the polish they did? Wondering if this may be an easier course of action having them realize that it’s a factor paint issue after they burn through what they claim to be clear and is actually base coat

I had my 2022 treated with Modesta ceramic coating about 3 months after buying it. Do you think that might help prevent this kind of damage occurring ? I feel for you guys dealing with this. I have huge OCD about keeping my truck spotless and shiny. Shit !! If mine starts this decay I’m gonna go ballistic. Plus mine is White !!!

Ceramic coating will definitely protect your paint from the elements but not paint failure. The paint failure is not from the surface it’s from underneath it’s not adhering to the substrate. I feel if your paint was going to fail you would already be seeing evidence of it.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I see your point about the paint but maybe the ceramic might help with preventing the clear coat failures I’ve read about in this posting. Once again, I feel for those having to deal with paint and clear coat failures. Even if a dealer was to repaint an entire truck, it will never look like a factory paint job again unless a high end custom paint shop does it.
