2018 Tacoma trd sport Limp mode

Finally getting around to introduction after 62,000 miles.
I thought i was in for my first towing of the Taco but it got me home.
I was 1150 miles into a 1300 road trip when engine light popped on and truck shuttered to limp mode and would not go more than 10mph. After sitting a while with dash lights lit up like Christmas tree in the middle of nowhere and tightening the gas cap. I was able to get up to highway speed for about 100 miles and then back to limp mode. I cleared code and all seems ok until E check, System not ready- Fail. Now the dreaded drive cycles so that i can renew registration.
I guess an engine scan will be in order to be sure there isn't anything more sinister going on.
